Artful Footprints

Ever wondered how to make footprints for your art projects? Well, here’s one idea.

Take your hand and make a fist, on the pinky side of your “fisted” hand put ink or paint. Press the inked fist down on a piece of paper. At the top of the impression you just made, use your finger in the same ink or paint to make little toes on the top.

This is a fun one to experiment with, try using right or left hand and try with different paints and papers. Great for baby scrapbook pages and cards. There are so many possibilies!

Fingerprint art

Use a stamp pad to color the tip of your thumb (black works best but, you can use any color). Press your thumb down hard on a piece of paper (white is best) so make the impression of your thumb print. Using the thumbprint, make a creature or person with pencil or ink.

You can use other fingers too to make different designs.

(make sure to wash your finger as soon as you are finished with your fingerprint impression)

Get a leg up on storing onions

Want you onion harvest to last longer? Try this: take an old pair of pantyhose, put an onion in the toe and then tie a knot, put in another onion and tie a knot, continue until either the leg is full or you have no more onions. Hang in your basement or someplace fairly cold and dark.

By storing the onions this way, it keep airflow around the onion and keeps them from touching each other so they don’t rot a quickly.onion storage idea

When you are ready use an onion, starting at the toe of the pantyhose, cut the hose just above the onion without cutting the knot.

Sandpaper Storage Idea

sandpaperYou know those great, cardboard envelopes that you get in the mail? Well, save them and put your sandpaper in them. It keeps the sheets nice and flat so they are ready for the next time you need them. Plus, those envelopes usually have a plastic sleeve on the outside that you can put a section of sandpaper in so that you can easily see what grit of sandpaper you have stored in the envelope!
